Useful information for tenants

Here’s some information that may be useful in managing your money and your tenancy.

If you’re finding it difficult to pay your rent:

First of all, please let us know if you are struggling, and likely to find it difficult to make your next rent payment.  It’s always better if we know about problems like this from the start, so we can do as much as possible to support you, rather than letting a debt build up.

As well as talking to us, there are lots of websites which have useful advice on money, dealing with debt, and claiming benefit.  The following are just a few:

Citizens Advice

This link takes you to general advice on debt and budgeting, and specific advice on rent arrears.

Shelter

Gives money and benefit advice, including specifically relating to rent debt

MoneyHelper

Gives a broad range of advice on money management, claiming benefits, and maximising income

If you want advice on managing your utility bills:

Citizens Advice

This link takes you straight to advice on paying your energy bills

Winchester City Council

Provides a wide range of advice that’s applicable not just to people living in the Winchester area

Money Saving Expert

Provides up to date independent information, with help and advice on reducing fuel costs

Your energy supplier may have useful tips on their website, like these pages from Octopus Energy:

And Money Saving Expert has more advice on reducing your fuel usage, and therefore your bills:
