WHT have just launched a pilot scheme for Supported Housing in Winchester by utilising one of their 2 bedroom houses. The Supported Housing scheme is designed to provide a transition between supported accommodation and independent living and is particularly aimed at young people. It was recognised by the Trust that some young people find themselves either homeless or in unsuitable accommodation through family breakdowns or paths and decisions that have not led them in the right direction.

The property has been offered to help individuals who genuinely desire the opportunity to take a positive difference in their lives and a step towards obtaining a long term secure tenancy. The places are offered on short-term licences with low level support. We hope the scheme will enable residents to live semi-independently with the objective of eventually securing their own tenancy either privately or through local authority. The places are offered to those who are actively trying to improve their personal circumstances through education or work. We have offered a beautiful home to two young people and by way of a loft conversion a third place will be offered later this year.

More information on this scheme will follow.
